Harvest moon band in field of wheat

About us

DON BIO PIC

Don Cook (aka ‘DB’ or ‘Devil Boy’)

Six-string and twelve-string acoustic and electric guitars, bass, harmonica, vocals and control board/sound man

Don is a self-taught guitarist. He has been a church musician for over 16 years. He is our equipment man and does all the research for types of equipment to make us sound the best for you for over 10 years. Don is multi-talented and has been known to play the harmonica while working in his day job as the Furniture Medic.

KAY BIO PIC

Kay Schweiger (aka ‘Evil Eye’)

Bassist, 6 and 12-string, electric, vocals and flute

Was HM really born in the mid-90’s and did we really use all that old equipment? I know we are blessed to have the combination of talent, fun and great equipment to work with. We’re not in it for the money – just the guitars!! And our friends and followers are the best!

ANNE BIO PIC

Anne Behrens

Anne joined Harvest Moon about 4 years ago as a vocalist and recently has been developing her “chops” on the bass and guitar/slide. She has been singing since she was a kid listening to her mom (who was a vocalist for a “big band”) and in rock bands since college. She is also the band photographer and videographer.

WALLY BIO PIC

Wally Drone

Keyboards, accordion and vocals

Wally is our seasoned musician with years of experience as a church musician, choir director, accompanist, as well as soloist on organ and piano. Wally plays many parties and weddings. When Harvest Moon takes a break, Wally loves to bring his partner, Betsy (the Accordion) for the “Chicken Dance,” “Hokey Pokey” and other fun favorites. Check around—there just might be some married couple you know who had Wally play at their nuptials too.

Barry “Bear” Mayer

Six-string acoustic & electric guitars, electric bass, blues style harmonica, vocals and harmony vocals

Bear, our newest band member, is far from new to the world of musical performance. Having 26 years in the Bluegrass/Classic Country Genre plus 12 more years in Doo-Wop/Roots Rock & Roll, he adds a new drive and dimension to our sound. We even occasionally remove his collar to let him wail on his harps. (He becomes a Grizzly otherwise.) Bear thinks of himself as a well-rounded guy who just couldn’t find work in Reggae Banjo.

Seth Bongiovanni

Our new “roadie”

Don is teaching Seth to set up and tear down equipment for our band. Seth attends North High School in Olathe, he is young and strong and the girls in the band appreciate his help. Seth plays bass guitar in a church band, the Holy Rollers. His favorites are more like Kings of Leon and The Killers. Generational thing, you know…
